Admissions Procedures
Thank you for your interest in Wake Technical Community College.
Individuals wishing to enroll in a curriculum program leading to a degree, diploma, certificate or pursuing college/ university transfer credit must complete the entire application process as follows:
1. Request an application or other information by calling the Student Information
Center at 919-866-5500; OR
- Complete a Wake Tech application on-line; OR
- Download the following printable version of the application:

2. Submit official copies of all transcripts from high school and or college directly to Wake Tech. Faxed or scanned copies are NOT considered official transcripts.

Acceptance by Wake Tech is conditional based upon receipt of all final official transcripts.
- High School – if applying before completion of high school, submit a partial high school transcript, upon graduation, submit a final transcript. All applicants with an associates degree or higher are NOT required to submit a high school transcript. NOTE: All health science applicants MUST submit all transcripts (high school and college/university).
- GED – applicants having a GED should submit an official transcript from the state in which it was received. For North Carolina applicants:

- College/University – submit an official copy of all colleges and universities attended. If applying before completion of a term, submit a partial transcript, upon completion of the term, submit a final transcript.
3. Applicants pursuing a degree, diploma, certificate, or college/university transfer credit are required to take a COMPASS placement test assessing your skills in reading, writing and math. Placement scores will determine your level of course work.
All applicants taking the Compass Placement must make an appointment with the Testing Center and present your test card (received in the mail or from the Admissions Office) at the time of testing.
Exemption from the Compass Placement:
- SAT scores of 520 or higher in both the Critical Reading (or Verbal) and Math sections of the SAT test, scores must be less than 5 years old at the time you apply to Wake Tech or
- ACT scores of 21 or higher in the Reading, Writing, and Math sections of the ACT test, scores must be less than 5 years old at the time you apply to Wake Tech or
- A grade of “C” or better in a college-level English and math course.
4. After completing steps 1-3, the admissions process is complete. You will receive an official letter of admission. At any time during this process you may schedule an appointment with an advisor to review your test scores and answer any questions.
5. Many of Wake Tech's health sciences programs have limited enrollment, and have additional admission procedures and requirements. Please visit http://hsadmissions.waketech.edu for health science admission requirements.
Advising Procedures
After completing the admissions procedures, you will meet with an advisor from Admissions/Advising who will assist you in your course selection and the registration process. |
